The
First Bay Ridge Conference on Aging was
held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Fourth Avenue & 80th Street,
on Wednesday, November 16. Twenty area agencies serving older
adults were represented. There were 80 agency staff and clients,
as well as workshop leaders, panelists, keynote speakers, local
community leaders and the New York City Commissioner of
the Department of the Aging. Workshops addresses issues facing
older adults, including housing, home care, health and safety,
and legal and financial issues.
The
Bay Ridge Center held its 11th annual Walkathon, "March for
Meals" on Saturday, May 7, 2005.
More than $4,200 was raised to support congregate and home delivered
meals for seniors.
On
Wednesday, May 11 the Bay Ridge Center held a Health Fair.
Day
of Fun and Beauty, Thursday, May 12. A number of beauty
parlors, hair salons, cosmetologists and beauticians were at the
Center doing make-overs for our seniors. It was a lot of
fun!
Senior
Expo, Friday, May 13. We had 125 seniors and 30 vendors
including health care providers, financial services, insurance
providers, legal services, and travel agencies. It was a
huge success!
