Intergenerational Bonds: How a Post 9/11 Veteran of Bay Ridge is Supporting Older Veterans
Bay Ridge CONNECTS began an educational and supportive program for all veterans 60+ in 2020.
Meetings are held approximately monthly and usually on a Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm. The group meets in person at Bay Ridge CONNECTS, 7609 Third Avenue, and virtually on Zoom.
Programs have covered topics such as legal assistance, VA benefits, the status of the Brooklyn VA, PTSD, where to find all types of resources, health care and exercise, navigating digial resources, and more.
Guest speakers have included lawyers from Volunteer Legal Services and other groups, elected officials including State Senator Andrew Gounardes and Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, tech expert David Dring, and health care specialist and PT Mary Ann Coughlin.
