Bay Ridge Center program

For millions of Americans, Meals on Wheels is literally the difference between remaining in their own homes and needing to relocate to a nursing facility. The nutritious meal, friendly visit and safety check help them cope with three of the biggest threats of aging: hunger, isolation and loss of independence. Research proves that when seniors have the right support, they gain greater quality of life, need fewer hospital stays and live longer.

Bay Ridge Center is proud to offer Meals on Wheels services to our community. Please contact Catholic Charities directly at 718-680-3530 in order to initiate Meals on Wheels service.

Each Monday, the meal deliverer will provide you with a small printed envelope. The suggested daily contribution as per the New York City Department for the Aging is $2.00 per meal, per day. For seven delivered meals the suggested contribution is $14.00. A check or money order is preferred. Checks should be made payable to Bay Ridge Center. All contributions are voluntary and confidential. Your contributions help to offset operating expenses for the program, and are necessary for the program to function.

Seal the envelope, indicating the amount donated on the outside of the envelope and give it to the deliverer. Please sign the front. Kindly return the sealed envelope whether you choose to contribute or not, and be sure to ask the driver for a receipt. If you are unable or unwilling to provide a voluntary contribution a meal will still be provided. Services will not be denied if you choose not to contribute.

IF YOUR FOOD IS NOT CONSUMED UPON DELIVERY, PLEASE REFRIGERATE IT AND RE-HEAT THOROUGHLY
BEFORE EATING. ALL MEALS SHOULD BE EATEN WITHIN 48 HOURS OF DELIVERY.

OF YOUR REFRIGERATOR. ALL FROZEN MEALS SHOULD BE HEATED AS FOLLOWS:
